Is “Mountain Goth“ A Genre?

As we lovingly and meticulously create our first album, we’ve began to notice the same (very valid) questions getting posed to us time and time again.

“Who are your influences? What genre is it? What does it sound like?”

The truth is, half the time we don’t even know how to answer those questions. We often look at each other and joke “Is mountain goth a genre? I mean… It errs on the darker side and we live in Colorado. Boom.”

When you pull from a deep well of influence, spanning over numerous genres and decades, you find yourself noticing tiny fractals of what you love making their way into your sound and each individual song. And that’s the beauty of it. That sound is yours to create and change and adapt. Something we do every day with our music.

It sounds cliché, we know, but the truth is sometimes we don’t even quite know how we fit into the genre/sound equation to give a decent description of what we’re creating.

Which is all the more reason why we’re so ecstatic to share it with you all soon. 🖤
